    Update on Abuelo

    Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

Thursday will be four weeks since he slipped into a coma. Amazingly, he’s still alive, but the doctors remain pessimistic about a recovery. Today they sent him home to my Uncle David and Aunt Millie’s house along with special equipment and instructions to keep him comfortable. Grandpa’s wife Mary, Uncle Dave’s family, and a visiting [...]

UPDATE, 6/12: Flew back to New York last night. A two hour delay put us at the gate in JFK at 1:25 am. Grandpa is still in a coma, but all the signs point towards improvement. Thanks again for all the well wishes and prayers for a miracle! ______________________ UPDATE, 6/10:  - Today’s bloodwork showed [...]

Prayer Alert – Major Ministry Updates – 5/3/06

    Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006

[Note: This prayer alert is longer than most, as it contains major ministry updates. Next month, I’ll return to our usual format. Thank you.] May 3, 2006 Friends and Intercessors: When God told Abraham to uproot his family and go where He would lead, He conveniently neglected to provide a roadmap. Instead He pointed in [...]

    Exchanging Freedom for Justice?

    Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

I mentioned in my CCDA recap Jim Wallis’ invitation to pray at the Capitol in DC on behalf of our nation’s poor: On Wednesday, December 14, we will pray for and call on our nation’s political leaders to reject a budget that harms our nation’s most vulnerable (learn more). This peaceful act of prayer is [...]

    Pray for Jordon Cooper

    Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

He’s a pastor from Canada who’s asking great questions about faith and loving Jesus while suffering from a miserably painful disease called neuropathy. “Life stinks right now. There isn’t any way to see it any other way. A friend of mine has said this is a little like Job but it isn’t that bad. For [...]

    Please pray for Frank

    Thursday, October 6th, 2005

Frank is one of Generation Xcel’s interns from NYU. I just received an email from him that he was assaulted on the subway on the way to class today and needs to have surgery tomorrow to set his broken nose properly. I haven’t known Frank long — just a month or so — but he’s [...]

    Thank you for praying

    Thursday, October 6th, 2005

Wow. The expressions of support and prayer in response to last week’s “We need a miracle” post, as well as some targeted emails, have been overwhelming (although uplifting might be a better descriptor). This post is a quick update to thank you all for the encouragement and prayers, and also share briefly some of the [...]
