Reload stop ever. The turnout, discussion, and energy project an exciting future for youth ministry in New York City.
Thanks, Larry, Carla, Fred, Keith, Julie, Jayme, and the rest of the UYWI crew for your friendship and partnership as the Kingdom advances among the City's two million young people! Thanks also to Dr. A.R. Bernard and CCC for hosting us, Pastor Jamaal Bernard, Dario Lariosa, and your team for handling all of the logistics and hospitality, the
Coalition for representing the unified body of Christ in our region, and all the sponsors, speakers, musicians, and volunteers who made the day a success. And congratulations to Bo and Mary Nixon for receiving the first ever Eagle Award for their forty years of innovative service to NYC young people through the ministries of Young Life and New Life.
Perhaps most exciting for me was the enthusiastic response from new partners and friends. For example, approximately sixty people attended the social justice workshop facilitated by the Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice, with another 20 or so participating in a social justice roundtable at lunch. The workshop on engaging local public schools was principally attended by professionals within public schools, including administrators, teachers, and counselors eager to collaborate with churches and community groups. Alliance Seminary and Nyack College encouraged urban and youth ministry students to attend, and
Efrem Smith and
Phil Jackson sold out of copies of their book,
The Hip-Hop Church.
