    Judah’s birth announcement

    By Jeremy | November 13, 2008

With the inducement of Baby2 scheduled for Monday, and Judah’s excellent parent/teacher conference this afternoon, I’m feeling sentimental. Here’s Judah’s online birth announcement from his very first website.

    January 4, 2001

    Dear Friends and Family:

My name is Judah Jeremy and I was born about 42 hours ago.

Mom said I beat her up pretty badly, but she had the last laugh. Around 3 a.m. on New Year’s Day, her body decided that I had become an unwelcome guest and it was time for me to leave. How rude! It was so warm and cozy, and her ribs made for excellent footstools. But for some reason, she wanted me out!

I guess deep down I wanted out too, so I could meet my parents and all, but not on a holiday. Sure dad had some silly deadline — said something about 01/01/01 being a cool birthday — but I insisted on taking the holiday off, and I fought the good fight.

The struggle lasted about 31 hours, but Mom finally got the upper hand. Looking back, I must admit that she was incredible. Dad kept telling her the whole time how proud he was of her.

I guess now that it’s over and I have finally met her, I’m proud too. She only screamed for the last three or four pushes. The rest of the time, she mostly moaned. No violence though (at least not directed at Dad, but those contractions almost did a number on me!) or bad words. Just lots of persistence and a love that endured, and now I’m her reward! Not a bad tradeoff.

I can’t wait to meet all of you. Dad thinks that may be difficult right away for some of you who haven’t figured out yet that New York City is the best place in the whole wide world to live. That’s why he helped me create this virtual photo album for all of you to check in on me periodically to see how I’ve grown. An added benefit: when we finally do meet, we can skip the formalities of you saying over and over how big I am.

Dad also helped me get wired to the 21st Century with my very own email account, so feel free to send me sappy, sentimental emails that I’ll preserve for posterity and eventually be able to read.

    I love you all!
