Tuesday Roundup

+ Firefighting. Web host drama torched the 20/20 website last week, so we’ve been rebuilding it this week. We have recaptured about 50% of the content so far, and should be near full strength by the end of the week. Among the improvements are direct links to helpful school adoption resources at the NYC Department of Education website. Check it out.
+ Speaking of Fires. Cub Scout Troop 518 visited the local FDNY firehouse on Friday night and Judah and I learned what a “Pumper” is and what a “Hook and Ladder” actually does. This Friday, before Cub Scouts, Judah tests for his Tae Kwon Do yellow belt.
+ Straight Outta Crooklyn. My family lives in an economically and culturally diverse, family friendly Brooklyn neighborhood. We have a rental in a six-story pre-war building on a residential avenue (perhaps most well known for pedestrian traffic during the New York Marathon). One would think that street parking, while hard to come by and rife with bumper damage, would be relatively safe. Think again.
Most recently, on Friday night a drunk threw a metal newspaper dispenser at my car, badly denting the front quarter panel. This latest incident joins two smashed windows, three smashed rear view mirrors, two slashed tires, a dented hood, more key scratches than I could possibly count, and assorted other body damage to various personal automobiles over the years. But who’s complaining? Gotta love city life or such headaches aren’t for you.
+ Baby waiting. After months of concern about a pre-term delivery, including bed rest since Labor Day and regular contractions since the end of September, our son is nearly two weeks overdue! The doctor will induce on Monday if baby doesn’t come naturally before then.
