"Healing the Brokenhearted"
- Larry Acosta Sometimes our humanity leaks. We need a band of brothers to help us break the sin cycles. Healing others requires receiving healing first. We need to create safe places where our brokeness can be redeemed and restored. Are we leading healthier lives that help others heal as well? Become wounded healers. [Two powerful testimonies.] God wants to break the sin cycle, but it requires us to first go public -- "share your wreckage" -- with safe brothers. Stop letting Satan punk you. Break into huddles of 3-4; ask, "What is the wreckage in your life?"; and pray together. - Efrem Smith Exodus 3:1-15 v 9: "And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen" v 10: "So now, go. I am sending you" v 12a: "I will be with you." v12b: "And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt," v 12c: "... you will worship God on this mountain." v 14: "I am who I am." Biblical covenant is about the purposes of God that he expects to work through us. Moses was raised up because people were in slavery. God's purpose was deliverance. Justice. There are still plantations today: consumerism, fatherlessness, addictions, false masculinity, etc. God wanted to speak to Moses. Moses had some issues -- even though he was working for the priest (v 1). He was still disconnected. We don't know Moses' daddy's name: "A man from the house of Levi." He grew up disconnected from his biological family. He was born the "wrong race." Comes into the world despised. True identity masked to survive. He's despised in the culture, but allowed to be raised in the "Big House" of the dominant culture. Then became a convict -- killed somebody. "Thuggin and muggin." Yet God called Moses to HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED. [Efrem gets personal. "Shondala on the chandelier." *It's getting hot in hrrr.* Receive this annointing.] Colossians 3:3-14 v 3-8: the covenant bond with God. v 9: transition to the covenant with man: "Do not lie to one another" After God hooked up Moses, he gave him Aaron. Wasn't enough for Moses to covenant with God. He'd have Aaron to stand with him and hold up his arms. Embrace the bond with God and the bond with brother. Take the burning of the bush externally and receive the burning of annointing internally. This trully was a great Mens Session. God really did show up and gave men the courage to go deep with other men about issues we need to be real about and deal with. Thank God! He chooses to use the unqualified!
