From One Artist to Others: Support the Artists’ Dream Fund

[Ed note: New York actor, writer, and producer Nelson Vasquez wrote this to his colleagues on behalf of the Michael P. Del Rio Artists' Dream Fund earlier this week.]
My beautiful people:
Michael was laid down to rest on Thursday, December 17th 2009 … a cold day, but the sky was brilliantly blue and clear, and the sun shined brightly and powerfully. He lays underneath the most beautiful, tall tree, but still close enough to the pounding rhythms of the city sounds to accompany him… as his body rests.
He is now in the greatest place in the world.
His rejoice-full celebration was exactly how Mikey would have written, produced and directed it… The room was full of laughter, tears and love… as he so deserved… he was the most generous man I’ve ever met.
On behalf of my brother Mikey, thank you to each and everyone for your love, support and kind words. From all the emails around the world sharing their condolences to those that joined us at the wake, the memorial and, or the burial.
He would probably want to say: “You all still have a special place in my heart and we will meet again in Glory. God Bless You.”
Mikey and I always ended our conversations and emails with, “Palante, siempre, palante bro!!!”

Please my friends and peers, if you can, please make any contribution at any time, to help with what Mikey really stood behind and loved so much… the youth of our world. We spent hours talking about today’s youth and what could be done, what should be done.
