As I read through the article and saw the uplink on youTube and listened to interviews I began wondering was except the words of course was wrong about what he said. Besides him talking about himself and his wealth (duh) he talked about the selected few who would be racist. The selected few that might have the wrong idea about Obama and used lyrics that is very potent. There were and are racist people out there who would love for Obama to be killed or hung.
During our 400 plus years as a country we have had many many people use their genres and language to try and express their deepest heart felt emotions. Both Jay-Z and Young Jezzy are overtaken by fame and worldly glory while trying to expose people of color with some pride. Before Barach Obama won the presidency people of color were fighting to get an equal education(20/20insert). Before education it was the right vote and before that the right to assemble and it goes on and on and on up to the 17th century. I believe that ideally Jay-Z and YJezzy could have had a bit more class, a bit more conservatism and appreciate how significant this moment was but these guys are from the streets, the hood and ghetto. In a very real way they grew up as “niggas” most of their life and associated with them. They are the Martin Luther Kings for the “niggas” growing up in the hood and they are the voices of those same people. We as leaders need to eat the meat and spit out the bone and work together with a voice that is not being used on deaf ears but tone deaf ones.
Expression is the birth of change and change is the constant thread of history. Lets make history then!!!
