With everyone's favorite big cousins Willie and Amber arriving tonight, holiday festivities promise to continue at least through New Year's, but here's the photographic 411 from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Highlighting Christmas morning was Judah's first real prank. Ever since his kindergarten teacher blew the Santa myth, no amount of The Polar Express could convince him otherwise. All month, I've been warning him that if he didn't believe, Santa would only send socks this year. So Diana and I bought him two packages of new socks, along with a dozen or so real gifts. We wrapped each separately, but only the socks had his name on the label. The others were addressed to Mom Diana and Dad Jeremy.
Judah promptly woke us up with all the exuberance of a soon-to-be seven year old, and we darted into the living room. His smile began to fade when he found his socks and realized that none of the other gifts were addressed to him. Then mom clued him in. The giddiness returned, but this time with a sense of relief and appreciation! The pics capture his changing expressions....
Even better was listening to Judah's voice during the Christmas reading that morning. He wanted to give Jesus a gift on His birthday, and I can think of none better than Judah's maiden reading of Matthew 1 and 2. Other holiday highlights: Crossroad's Christmas Even Encounter; Christmas Eve with cousins Joey and Bethany and the rest of the Vecchione clan; Christmas brunch with the Del Rios and dinner with the Vikses in New Jersey.
