Depressing News Day

- 8.2 strong quake hits off Indonesia: What's most disturbing about this article is: "Since the devastating tsunami of December 2004, Indonesia has fallen victim to 15 earthquakes with magnitudes of 6.3 or higher, according to the USGS. The quakes have killed almost 8,000 people, with the bulk of the deaths coming last summer." Is this news to only me?
- Putin dissolves Russian government: Especially alarming in light of the next story.
- Russia tests 'dad of all bombs': "It was the latest show of Russia's military muscle amid chilly relations with the United States. ... Booming oil prices have allowed Russia to steadily increase military spending in recent years, and the Kremlin has taken a more assertive posture in global affairs. Last month, President Vladimir Putin said he ordered the resumption of regular patrols of strategic bombers, which were suspended after the 1991 Soviet breakup."
