Where I’ve Been

Chain Reaction Baltimore
July 2-4, 2007 Chain Reaction is a highlight of every summer for me. Matt and Katy Stevens embody what it means to love God and our neighbors as ourselves, and through CR weeks and weekends create experiences for young people to live the Great Commandment as well. Baltimore kicked off a month of service that will include CR weeks in Lowell and Haverille, Mass, and New York City. A special treat this week for me was the participation of Tony Sheng's SPACE high school sophomores. Tony's one of the first virtual friend I made through my blog, a friendship that's become much more than virtual over the past two and a half years. His kids were amazing -- probably the most well prepared and engaging teens, as a group, that I've ever experienced in a week-long missions trip setting -- and their leaders represented Tony and their church very well. It was also fun to meet Matt's DOC partner Alton Lee, whose family spent the week sleeping on air matresses and whose ministry ("Hot Sauce") spiced up the party.LPAC Transforming Youth Capacity Building Project
Partner Retreat, June 29-30 It's a privilege to serve the Latino Pastoral Action Center's Transforming Youth Capacity Building Project (a three-year initiative funded with a federal Compassion Capital Fund grant) as a technical assistance provider, trainer, and coach (and unofficial retreat photog) for six of my favorite NYC faith-based youth agencies: Generation Xcel, The Coalition, CitiVision, Urban Youth Alliance, Infinity NYC, and Greater Heights. Last weekend's partner retreat represents six weeks since the project officially launched. More on this later...Topics: chain reaction, lpac, photography, schedule, speaking, TY | 1 Comment »
