    From generation to generation

    By Jeremy | February 12, 2007

After completing the Chronicles of Narnia last year, Judah and I began reading another of my childhood favorites, Little Pilgrim's Progress, after the holidays. Based on the John Bunyan classic, it's a retelling of the story by Helen Taylor in language children can understand. We finished Part 1 on Thursday, before he left for Massachusetts, and he couldn't wait to start Part 2 tonight. "One more chapter" is his familiar refrain, and so tonight we plowed through four (short) chapters. I'm so glad that he's developed a passion for storytelling in general, and reading in particular. It's never too early to pass along a love of learning.
"Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates." Deut. 6:6-9, The Message
