    Reflections from charity:ball

    By Jeremy | December 19, 2006

This event was a Christmas fundraiser for charity:, a global relief organization founded earlier this year by Scott Harrison.
As a New York City club kid and party promoter for ten years, Scott lived the fast life and built a who's who contact list of celebs and high society. But nothing could shake an emptiness within his heart, so three years ago, he embarked on a pilgrimage to West Africa to search for what's truly important in life.
There he discovered Anastasis, the largest non-governmental hospital ship in the world, with MercyShips, a ministry that brings health and justice to the world's poorest of the poor. He volunteered as a photo-journalist for a year and discovered the Kingdom of God "on earth as it is in heaven," as practiced by Christ followers who share Christ's mission "to preach good news to the poor... to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (Luke 4:18-19)
Scott returned to the US with newfound purpose only to find himself sipping a $16 margarita at a trendy New York City lounge, where he realized the same $16 could feed a family of four for a month in in Liberia. Using his photos to tell the story, he formed charity: to to build a bridge between his New York socialite friends and the extreme poverty overseas. Their first cause: raising money to build fresh water wells for more than 1 billion people forced to drink contaminated water everyday.

    this?
    or this?
when all that's needed is this?
