A reminder to crucify the flesh daily
By Jeremy | August 1, 2006
"Mel earned the right to make his movie, and the respect of his would-be audience, because for the prior 25 years, as an actor and director he has met audiences on their terms. After rediscovering his faith, he continued nurturing his craft and making good movies. The spiritual truths contained in many have been well received because they avoided the preachy trap. His resulting credibility as an artist, combined with the courage of his convictions and $30 million of his own money, produced a film about our loving Savior that the entire world paused to notice. "That's a triumph worth celebrating -- even emulating -- from an inspired, crucified life."Last week, Mel's drunken tirade after a DUI traffic stop (induced, apparently, by an alcoholic relapse) reminds us that Jesus admonished his followers to take up their crosses daily. It's not enough to have a mountaintop experience, even if the mountain is witnessed by millions around the globe. Just because we encounter Christ's loving embrace one day doesn't mean all our problems go away and we get a free pass to live however we want. Mel has publicly apologized for the incident, including an anti-semitic rant. (Thankfully public scrutiny doesn't engulf me everytime I relapse into a bad habit or say something despicable.) Here's to hoping he remembers that the amazing grace and love he masterfully captured on film still forgives and restores, even relapsed "wreches" like him and me.mn casinos albqgambling age 18 wisconsincleveland in for age ohio casinosamerican online friendly casinosaddiction michigan treatment gamblingfeathers 7 or casinocasino amazon royalegambling card credit merchant account Map

This incident with Mel Gibson has not changed my opinion of him one iota. He’s human. Humans make mistakes. I believe that those that are truly honest in their faith, whatever that may be, will understand this and allow Mr. Gibson the time to heal and work this out with the only One that matters, God.
