Six Degress of Reality Show separation

    By Jeremy | July 31, 2006

Not even. More like one degree.
Last winter, my college friend was a contestant on Project Runway (Andrae Gonzalo). This summer, the son of Generation Xcel's judo teacher is a Contender (Nick Acevedo). And in the upcoming season of Yo Momma, one of my former youth group kids (Jonathan Maldonado) makes us, hmm, we'll see.
Nah, seriously, I love Jonathan and his family, who were (and still are) among the first members of Abounding Grace back in 1993ish. His younger brother Chris co-founded Xpress and won this year's film award (and is the iconic image of the Celebration of Xcellence photo gallery). Some of my best memories of Jonathan were on our youth group's first camping trip, eleven or so years ago (yikes!). His savvy around a campsite, combined with his relative shyness, forecasted a contestant on Survivor more than a trashtalker on Yo Momma, but times, they are a changin'.
