Dancing with Abuela

[A ridiculously handsome couple.
Check Abuelo's photo set for 71 pics like this.]
After a valiant fight that lasted more than 29 days, weeks longer than the specialists predicted, my grandfather's body finally relented last night at appx. 11:35 pm, and released his spirit into the arms of Jesus and his very own "Miss Universe," Estella Sacarello Del Rio. I will be returning to Puerto Rico tomorrow afternoon with Judah, Jonathan, and my mother for the funeral and other family arrangements, joining my father who flew down earlier today. Thank you again for praying with us during this difficult month. Please pray a special prayer for Grandpa's wife Mary, who also lost her first husband prematurely and stood by Abuelo's side to the end.
Special thanks to Mary, Uncle David's family, and the the aunts and uncles and cousins who did such an amazing job keeping him comfortable.

Wow! I’ve seen other photos of you & your dad, but this one really shows you as the spitting image of your dad!!
I’m sorry to hear about the passing of your grandfather, though greatly encouraged by the glory of God in his last days, as well as in the totality of his life. May God comfort you and your family in this season of loss.

I am one of daughters of Nathan Hernandez (he was a cousin to Felipe). As I sit in my home office in Seattle WA and look through the picture and watched the video, I smiled and cried and mourned for the man I am related to and will never meet. Thank you for the beautiful tribute and for sharing it and him with familia in the Pacific NorthWest.

Jeremy, I was linked to your site primarily via Rudy. I am sorry to hear about your loss. I just lost my mother on Memorial Day. What struck me most about your post is that your abuelo lasted longer than the specialists predicted. It was very similar to my mother’s situation. She lasted nearly a month longer than what her doctors said. There are few words of comfort, but you can be proud that your abuelo–like my mother–fought until the very end. My sympathy and condolences are with you.
