Thursday will be four weeks since he slipped into a coma. Amazingly, he's still alive, but the doctors remain pessimistic about a recovery. Today they sent him home to my Uncle David and Aunt Millie's house along with special equipment and instructions to keep him comfortable. Grandpa's wife Mary, Uncle Dave's family, and a visiting nurse will provide round the clock care.
No one knows for sure what any of this means. All we know is he's regained function in all of his internal organs, except the brain. He's breathing on his own, his kidneys and digestion are functioning well, and his heart is strong. But his brain function remains minimal. The doctors have stopped making predictions, other than to say that after 30 days (Saturday) they will change the diagnosis from coma to permanent vegetative state.
That's no way for Abuelo to live. He was too strong a man, too active in life and passionate about work to stay like this for long. Please pray with us for a full recovery or that God would take him home or, if he should tarry, that the family would have the grace to make him as comfortable as peaceful as possible.

We are praying and standing with you and your family for your grandfather. The few times I have been around him were more than delightful. Keep surrounding him in prayer and reading him the Word. Thanks for the update. Bobby and I are lifting up the entire family to the Lord.
