Plotting Christmas Goodness
By Jeremy | November 30, 2009
I read somewhere that Brian McLaren or Bart Campolo (maybe both) sign their letters with the phrase, “Plotting Goodness.”
It stuck. Keeps me thinking, especially when groups like Advent Conspiracy, One Day’s Wages, and New York Faith and Justice remind me what really matters about the holidays.
Advent Conspiracy says is especially well at their website.
Christmas can [still] change the world.
The story of Christ’s birth is a story of promise, hope, and a revolutionary love.
So, what happened? What was once a time to celebrate the birth of a savior has somehow turned into a season of stress, traffic jams, and shopping lists.
And when it’s all over, many of us are left with presents to return, looming debt that will take months to pay off, and this empty feeling of missed purpose. Is this what we really want out of Christmas?
What if Christmas became a world-changing event again?
Welcome to Advent Conspiracy.
Worship Fully. Spend Less. Give More. Love All.
Be inspired.
My church is conspiring for advent again this year with the goal of raising enough money to build a clean water well in Nigeria. The easiest way to help: buy a RUWA shirt (ruwa is Nigerian for “water”). For every $20 shirt, $14 will be donated to Living Waters International towards the construction of the well.
